Cancún

9th Jan 2017 - 12th Jan 2017. 3 nights.

Flew over from Mexico City.

Got the bus to the town and then walked over to the hostel.

On the way to Chichén Itzá and we stopped in Valladolid briefly and got a chance to swim in a cenote. The tour guide spent most of the time trying to get us to buy Mayan "birth certificates". We stopped at a restaurant where we were expected to tip photographers, musicians and dancers. We also stopped at a shop where a "shaman" would bless anything we bought.

Chichén Itzá. The tour started late and we only covered a tiny amount. There wasn't much time when it was over to explore the rest of the site. The tour guide from the bus and the guide at Chichén Itzá expected a tip. I would recommend avoiding organised tours if possible.

Tulum. I had paid a deposit but it turned out to be cheaper to go myself rather than pay the remainder.
